Current / Clamp Test Probes

Sometimes known as amp clamps, current / clamp test probes enable you to measure the current flowing around a circuit without breaking that circuit. Clamp probes ‘clamp on’ using a hinged mechanism to measure the flow of AC or DC current. Another way to measure current is with the use of a test probe rather than a clamp. These also allow you to measure current without cutting off a circuit’s power. These are often used in conjunction with an oscilloscope and can measure AC and DC power without having to shut off the circuit. These types of meters, together with multimeters which measure many different electrical properties, are useful wherever electrical circuits can be found but are commonly used in areas such as vehicle diagnostics.
