Charging Coils / Inductors Charging Coils / Inductors are also referred to as coils, chokes or reactors. These electrical components are passive two-terminal components that are designed to store energy within a magnetic field when an electric current is passed through it. They oppose sudden changes in current and are often used to charge batteries or operate electrical devices and usually consist of an insulated wire which is wound into a coil shape.
